Production Manager - 12 month Maternity Leave

Our client, a leading NZ designer brand, is seeking a Production Manager for a one year fixed term maternity leave cover.

Role Description

The successful applicant needs to have at least 5 years’ experience in Production both local and offshore with at least 1 year in a similar management role. We are looking for candidates who possess the following attributes:

The role consists of the following:

Raw Material Procurement

  • Determine seasonal fabric and trim quantity requirements and order accordingly.
  • Receipt all Raw Materials into the Production system and sign off invoices.
  • Determine actual costs for offshore raw materials purchased for onshore production and update these in ApparelMagic as necessary.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding bulk quality issues and negotiate discounts and/or credits.
  • Manage under/over deliveries.
  • Track leftover RM and update the Design Director and the Retail Operations Manager regularly in order to action production re-cuts.

Production Costings

  • Create costings for onshore production styles.
  • Analyse margins for both onshore and offshore production styles and liase with cross-functional partners if any concerns.

Production

  • Establish the seasonal production critical path.
  • Create seasonal production and RM trackers, and update as required.
  • Partner with the Sampling and Design Development team to determine production needs based on product requirements.
  • Oversee the creation of BOMs, production processes, and Raw materials in ApparelMagic and ensure that data accuracy is maintained at all times.
  • Order and approve production markers for onshore production.
  • Outworker allocation based on strengths and performance of existing outworkers, and sourcing new outworkers as required.
  • Advise outworkers of seasonal production schedule, and negotiate terms and costs as applicable.
  • Assess the quality of first production samples on arrival to warehouse and communicate any amendments and comments to outworkers.
  • Monitor on-time deliveries from outworkers, troubleshooting with team and cross-functional partners as necessary.
  • Re-negotiate delivery dates with suppliers and outworkers as required.
  • Provide and present seasonal analysis for all aspects of onshore and offshore production, reviewing margins, final production units, and all costs.
  • Raise claims with all suppliers if production does not meet business standards or requirements.
  • Sign off and approve offshore supplier invoices.
  • Monitor the production budget.

Requirements

Stock Control and Inventory Management

  • Drive quality control standards, and ensure that standards adhere to business requirements.
  • Oversee stock flow through the warehouse – ensure that all stock is processed correctly and in a timely manner to ensure that deadlines are adhered to.
  • Manage accurate allocation of stock to stores and stockists.
  • Plan and manage regular finished goods and raw materials stocktakes: reconciling variances, and reporting on stock variances.
  • Over-see weekly/monthly stocktakes for other FGs branches:
  1. Warehouse branch
  2. Retail Holding branch
  3. Outlet branch

Production and Retail Software:

  • Create manufacturing projects for onshore and offshore styles.
  • Raise POs and receiver invoices for all production styles and raw materials.
  • Update supplier and RM details in ApparelMagic to ensure data accuracy.
  • Receipting in finished goods to ensure efficient processing of stock from AM to Rex.
  • Managing the invoicing of stock out of AM into Rex and allocating to stores accordingly.

Logistics and Dispatch

  • Analyse and review shipping methods.
  • Plan and manage weekly store deliveries.
  • Work closely with the Retail Operations Manager to ensure all requirements for store stock are met.
  • Plan and manage seasonal stockist deliveries.
  • Liaise with the accounts team regarding wholesale account status.

Personnel Management

  • Manage team efficiency through monitoring workload and prioritisation.
  • Raise any staff concerns with senior management.
  • Hire and train production staff.
  • Lead annual staff reviews.
  • Review and approve staff timesheets.
  • Coordinate production staff annual leave.

To be successful in your application you will possess high levels of organisation and people management skills, the ability to meet deadlines whilst dealing with multi off site production. Computer literacy in Word and Excel essential Knowledge of Fabrix and Counter Intelligence systems is preferable.
