Role Description

Our client is a renowned women’s Streetwear brand and we are seeking an experienced Off-Shore Production Manager to join their progressive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with minimum 5 years production experience within the apparel industry.

The successful applicant will have strong apparel technical knowledge and the ability to develop and manage the overall apparel manufacturing process including sourcing, importing and some local production. You will have previous experience in collaborating and negotiating at the highest level with customers and suppliers. PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE

  • Assist in sourcing and developing new factories & mills with social & environmental compliance accreditations that align with the brands ethical code of conduct and checklist.
  • Ensure the highest quality product is delivered on time meeting deadlines.
  • Negotiate with factories to achieve maximum margin - ensure production deadlines (costing completion, order placing, sample approvals, shipping, in-store delivery dates) are met.
  • Work closely with accounts team to maximise outputs while minimising impact on cash flow.
  • Ensure that communication and processes are smooth between production, design and sales departments.
  • Continually look for new methods to improve the production process - this may be communications with factories, company processes and ways to reduce costs and waste.
  • Lead production team to create an efficient, respectful and margin focussed culture.
  • Ensure product is manufactured in the most sustainable & ethical way - build strong supplier relationships
  • Ensure production deadlines (costing completion, order placing, sample approvals, shipping, in-store delivery dates) are met.
  • Communicate weekly delivery days and delays to sales and marketing teams at the Monday Morning Meeting, and also to stores.
  • Communicate production timelines and deadlines to design and production teams with enough time to plan and create around them.
  • Communicate daily with local and offshore factories/ mills on each style’s progress and any queries/ issues.
  • Manage Garment Technician and Production Assistant to ensure they are achieving daily tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Complete costings and negotiations for clothing, accessories and 3rd party production.
  • Negotiate payment terms with suppliers and manage payment plan with accounts team and suppliers.
  • Fabric and trim sourcing. Coordinate with factory/ mill on custom sampling fabric orders and lab dips. Purchase fabrics for local production.

Requirements

IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS

  • Able to build strong supplier relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills to effectively manage time, prioritise and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communicator and able to relay instructions accurately- both verbally and written.
  • Good technical knowledge understanding fabric, patterns and garment construction.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and able to use initiative.
  • Strong numeracy skills. Proactive, forward thinking and able to think outside of the box.
  • Accurate with attention to detail.
  • Resilient and able to work well under pressure.
  • Positive and adaptable to change. Skilled at managing team members.

Communication with external and internal stakeholders on a daily basis will require your well-honed people skills, while your ability to multitask and problem solve will be essential.
