Role Description

Our client is a premium jewellery design-house brand based in Auckland, offering a local and international bespoke jewellery service. Their signature collections are designed in-house by their renowned jewellery designer and they currently seek a Jewellery Designer to join their vibrant and innovative team.

In this role the successful applicant will be responsible for creating original jewellery designs that deliver to the brands’ creative direction. Working closely with the Creative Director and the product team you will be responsible for jewellery design from ideation through to creating the finished samples. Jewellery development experience is preferable along with advanced skills with adobe illustrator, photoshop & excel.

Research & Development

● Acutely aware of market trends, you know what people want and go far & wide in your research & successfully communicate your findings.

Jewellery Design

● Work collaboratively with Creative Director to develop jewellery collections that align to the Creative Direction as well as the brand design principles/guidelines.

● Ideation: Responsible for confidently presenting multiple design drawings & the thinking behind them. You have the ability to sketch freehand

● Take on feedback professionally to select best designs for further development. Iterate designs as needed to work towards best fit of concept brief, design principles and range plan.

● Developed Design: Further develop chosen designs with more detail, showcasing various angles colours & proportions; to work collaboratively with artisans to develop designs technically & functionally.

● Final Designs: Create to scale specification drawings that that are structurally sound & practical to manufacture; to outline the exact design & materials required.

Sampling

● Sourcing materials/stones that meet or exceed our sustainability standards.

● Ability to build costing spreadsheets for each design to present alongside your drawings

● Develop & evolve systems and processes to ensure the brand keeps up to date with all industry developments.

● Communicate effectively & collaboratively with artisans to translate design details to create successful prototypes.

● Work with artisans to develop samples efficiently & with accuracy.

Communications & Engagement

● Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

● Work with the Creative Director to align & successfully deliver on the brand aesthetic and design philosophies

● Work with Product team to understand opportunities & gaps in the market

● Actively engage key technical leadership to ensure successful development of design

● Ensure effective specification & communication of design details to allow for successful development of prototypes.
