Role Description

The Stolen Girlfriends Club brand represents modern day ‘Rock n Roll Infused Contemporary Fashion’ that sits on the international stage and worn by global taste makers.

At Stolen Girlfriends Club we are looking for an experienced Garment Technician to join the ever expanding production team. As Garment Technician you will be required to coordinate the sample development from concept to finalised SMS and PP sample. Working with the creative design team this role brings design concepts and ideas through to the runway.

The applicant must be detailed orientated, organized and have a strong passion for international fashion and accessories.

Key Tasks and Expected Results

The development technician is responsible for communicating and specifying design alterations to offshore factories. This role reports to directly to the Production Director on a day to day basis and also has close working relationships with the below team members:

  • Creative Director
  • Womenswear Designer
  • Garment Technician
  • Jewellery Technician

Requirements

Responsibilities:

Creating Initial style specifications to a high standard that meet the Creative Designer’s requests:

  • Creative Director to hand over all new designs complete with block reference and colour/fabric ref.
  • Organise and Conduct fittings with Creative Director and Fit Model.
  • Record all fit notes clearly.
  • Adding all new styles into the critical path.
  • Assigning new style codes for each individual style.

Fabric Sourcing, Trim sourcing, New materials Sourcing:

  • After design range handover with creative designer coordinate with Production Director to approach appropriate factories, agents and fabric mills for new season fabrics.
  • Approve all fabrics, trims and details with creative director and assign to new styles.

Monitoring Sample Process:

  • Monitor sample process to make sure factories are sending samples within time frame requested.
  • Inputting and ordering salesman samples for new range.
  • Input all new styles into our database (Cin7).

Finalise New Collection:

  • Chase Factories to make sure all correct samples will arrive on time for photoshoot and selling dates.
  • Receipt of all new samples into the system.
  • Match factory sample invoice to purchase order and pass onto accounts.
  • Make sure the sample range is beautifully presented with all correct labelling and finishing details.

Finalising all fits for production:

  • Fit and check each new style that made it to production and make comments.

Success within the role you will need:

  • 3years + proven experience in garment design.
  • Knowledge of garment design specifications and manufacturing principles.
  • Strategic thinker and planner with great commercial production acumen that enjoys problem solving and is able to communicate effectively.
  • High performer with energy, creativity and determination to continuously improve and deliver results
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand and have permanent residency.
