Role Description

This company’s overarching philosophy has always been to inspire and support women by creating clothing that gives everyday self-confidence. Their head office, design room and garment development team are based in the Tauranga region. We are seeking an experienced Mandarin speaking Garment Tech for this full-time position. You will be working with a dedicated team on a high-quality fashion brand. This role is for someone who is interested in every aspect of garment manufacturing and off-shore production.

Key Objective:

To oversee all aspects of garment development, fit, and production for offshore styles across multiple categories and ensure they are ready for delivery on time to the highest standards of fit, quality, and construction, from development through to final production

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of garment development, fit, and production for offshore styles across multiple categories.
  • Attend fittings as required.
  • Collaborate closely with offshore manufacturers in regions such as China.
  • Review and refine drafted detailed tech packs, measurement specifications, BOMs (bills of materials), and construction documentation.
  • Review all samples fit across all sizes, providing comprehensive fit comments and ensuring precise execution across the size range.
  • Management and tracking of samples to ensure availability for fittings & marketing.
  • Maintain and enforce quality standards during pre-production and bulk production phases.
  • Identify and address potential fit or production issues early, implementing efficient corrective actions.
  • Manage multiple styles concurrently across development, sampling, and production while adhering to critical path deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively with offshore vendors regarding fit, construction.
  • QC (one per size) off all bulk of your allocated styles before distribution.
  • Ensure offshore garments are ready for delivery to meet product deadlines.
  • Digitising of new onshore patterns.

Requirements

Required skills and abilities:

  • Ability to speak and write Mandarin or Cantonese.
  • Proven experience working with offshore manufacturers.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading, and finishing specific to women’s fashion.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining detailed tech packs, measurement specs, BOMs (bills of materials), and construction details.
  • Experience using industry-standard software (e.g., Illustrator, Excel, PLM systems) and strong computer skills.

  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to deal with multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Works well in a team and individually, with the ability to develop sound relationships with staff.
