Role Description
This is a great opportunity for an intermediate to senior Garment Tech to join a successful and well establish baby wear brand in a fixed term one year maternity leave cover. This is a varied role and the successful applicant will have sound experience as a garment tech including off-shore production knowledge. We are seeking applicants who have strong communication skills and a desire to be part of a dedicated team who enjoy flexibility in their roles.
The role:
Garment Construction, Samples and Fit:
- Set up and update specification instructions for styles as directed by Buyers.
- Fitting of protos and preproduction samples with Buyers after all preparatory work has been completed.
- Spec garments, review of garment, check patterns against blocks.
- Ensure the garment is signed off by Buyers before bulk production.
- Liaise with Buyers - advise on garment fit to improve the performance and appeal.
- Set up sampling schedule for each season and organize photo samples.
Quality Control, Garment Detail, Trim and Spec Approval:
- Check, measure and assess the quality of sample garments at all stages of sampling and production to ensure company standards and process is maintained.
- Communicate with Offshore suppliers necessary changes to the construction by maintaining style file comments and following best practice approval process.
- Approve garment construction, fabric quality and trim detail in liaison or as directed by Buyers upon completion of each stage of the sample process.
Coordinate Off-shore suppliers:
- Maintain excellent communication, complete relevant correspondence with suppliers to ensure progress of samples and production runs smoothly.
Buyer’s Assistance:
- Raise barcodes for confirmed orders, create seasonal retail books
- Assist in coordination of photoshoots with Buyers.
- Ensure all photo samples are correct and sent on time. Models searched and booked.
- General Enquiries from stores are answered correctly in a timely manner.
Website:
- Ensure new received deliveries are allocated online.
- General maintenance of online stock availability – load new styles to website.
- Take photos for the website and have it sent to clear cutters after check and amending.
Requirements
The successful candidate would be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
- Have a clear understanding of the legal requirements for selling clothing in the baby wear market especially fire labels.
- Great attention to detail.
- Relevant qualifications and experience with spec’s.
- Excellent communication skills, including liaison on fit with off-shore production.
- Ability to complete and problem solve garment specifications.
- Time management skills and ability to multi task.
- Competent relevant computer skills.
