Role Description

Account Manager

Our client is an established and well recognised leader in the NZ apparel industry, specialising in custom design. They design and manufacture, high quality cutting edge technical clothing and accessories distributing to some of New Zealand’s largest corporates, schools, and retailers under several in-house brands.

An exciting opportunity is available for an energetic, bright and positive team player to join the team as an Account Manager. Reporting to the General Manager, the successful applicant will be process driven with a keen eye for detail, possess the ability to meet deadlines while working closely with suppliers, clients and the extended team.

The Role Objectives:

  • To serve customers by selling products; meeting customer needs.
  • Maintain ongoing relationship with existing customers whilst sourcing and identifying new customers.
  • Maintain and upgrade knowledge relevant to the yachting industry.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the General Manager
  • Achievement of financial targets.
  • Prospect for new business, opportunities and leads – telephone, email & field based.
  • Sales visits to prospective and existing customers where possible.
  • Preparation of proposals (in conjunction with your direct manager) to prospective and existing customers.
  • Record and plan activity via full utilisation of GVG’s CRM, (Customer Relationship Management) software.
  • Outlook – All activities fully diarised.
  • Time management and prioritisation of tasks and sales paperwork, to ensure timely responses and a proactive work ethic.
  • Attend team, company and training meetings as required.
  • Manage existing customers with exceptional service going above and beyond to satisfy needs and demands.
  • Obtain orders via customer relationships, prospecting, web leads and introductions.
  • Attend tradeshows and other events as required by management
  • Plan and organise daily work schedules utilising the CRM to call on existing or potential customers.
  • Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports and analysis as requested by management.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
  • General administration functions.

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong negotiation skills with an ability to think quickly to seal the deal.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrable product and industry knowledge.
  • Demonstrable information technology (IT) knowledge.
  • Computer literate MS office suite of programs, email and an understanding of MYOB.
