Role Description
Our client is one of the top New Zealand designers and currently has an opportunity for a workroom and production assistant. This will be a blend of roles using your on-shore production workroom skills along with some off-shore production tasks. This is a great role for career growth and your role will support the production team from design through to prototype.
Your Keys Tasks will be:
- Assisting the team with all aspects of Sampling & Bulk Production Management:
- Updating Fabric Bibles, collating information for Costings
- Contacting Suppliers to receive pricing and product specifications
- Collating cuts/makes for Out sourced CMTs both local & international
- Assist with sending off of new fabric and garment developments to offshore vendors
Sampling :
- Cutting Sample/Prototype garments
- Machine Sewing simple garments as required
- Pressing Garments and in-house finishing
- Managing all sampling processing: Labelling, dispatch for pressing
- Samples to be prepped for sale at end of season
Specifications, Patterns & Fittings
- Measuring Garments as instructed
- Photographing and printing images of Samples for Specifications and fit notes
- Tracing Off Patterns as required
- Basic Patternmaking as required
- Cutting or Labelling patterns
Requirements
You will have the following abilities:
- Excellent time management & organisation skills.
- Initiative and good communication skills.
- Able to multi-task with great attention to detail.
- Easy going, confident personality, be motivated and able to self manage
- Intermediate computer skills – MS word, outlook & excel, some database experience would be beneficial but not necessary.
- High level of knowledge of garment construction, patterns and textiles.
- Ideally some experience dealing with off-shore production
