Role Description

This is a rare opportunity for women’s wear Print Designer to join one of New Zealand’s leading fashion retail brands.

This is no ordinary role – we are looking for a fashion print designer who will bring their ‘A’ game every time – has an eye for great textile design and a passion, dedication and work drive that matches no other. You will be joining a great design team that relies heavily on one another to deliver outstanding results.

Within the design team the successful applicant will be responsible for identification of trends in-line with the brand and customer needs. The Design Team designs and translates innovative sketches and print design into profitable commercial customer focused ranges. This is based on qualitative and quantitative analysis, market and customer knowledge; creative trending and forecasting.

Key to the role:

  • Research local and international competition and trends in fashion each season.
  • Translate trends into commercial print and apparel designs.
  • Work with Design Manager and the buying team to achieve their print needs for each range.
  • Be continually aware of the customer profile and reflect this in all activities and decisions.
  • Create clear and accurate 2d sketches to be sent to supplier for development.
  • Create accurate specification and tech pack to support sketch for supplier to create first fit sample.
  • Assist the Design manager in set up and preparations for presentations.
  • Assist in support processes i.e. archival samples.
  • Ensure all Trend packs and story boards are saved and updated in the shared drive.

Requirements

Your attributes will be:

  • Extensive ability in graphic software of Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign.
  • Competency in applications of Mac design programs Dreamweaver and Flash.
  • Creative conceptual thought and execution.
  • Positive and strong verbal communication with the ability to gather comprehensive information at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, to prioritise, and handle pressure.
  • Ability to professionally communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms.

Experience will be prized, however if you have a great commercial design eye which shows in your portfolio, we are open to submissions from all levels of interested applicants.
