Role Description

A leading wholesaler of uniforms is looking to recruit a Garment Technologist Manager to work in their Auckland Head Office. Working closely with design and production the successful candidate will be responsible for the development of outerwear and managing a team of Garment Techs. This is an excellent role for candidates skilled in fit, sizing and garment construction. Candidates must have relevant experience in multi-product outerwear and a keen eye for detail. A sound understanding of supplier procedures, the critical path process and a good understanding of pattern construction is essential for this role.

• Manage, oversee and train a team of approximately 4 garment Techs.
• Manage the team to Measure, assess and fit samples prior to fit sessions, making notes on spec, quality and make discrepancies.
• Manage the Translation of comments for factories to easy English along with amendment sketches and photos.
• Assist factories with pattern & construction methods by making pattern drafts and sample mock-ups.
• Read test reports and work with factories to ensure lower/ failing grades are improved to commercial standards.
• Propose and approve fabric testing and care labels along with QA team.
• Manage Work on Critical Path, monitor and update all statuses with awareness. Attending management meetings and escalating issues where necessary.
• Risk assess all new styles to highlight and solve any issues with the sales/ production team.
• Check fabrics and trims on Production Samples to ensure they are within approved quality and appearance.
• Maintain the technical and production libraries on the system.
• Continually assessing quality levels and construction techniques, ensuring they adhere to Customer specifications.
• Partake weekly production meetings with Procurement/QA.
• Recommend changes to the design, construction and fabrics to ensure final product is commercially suitable.
• Responsible for the development of garments from design/order stage through to production ensuring they perform.
• Costing garments and trimmings.
• Travelling as and when required.
